The Amerindian Presence In Bedford County

The histories presented in this section detail the various changes undergone by the Protestant church denominations on a 'national' level. They explain how each denomination evolved from what they started as in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries to what they became and are at the present time. Each individual congregation located throughout the townships of Bedford County experienced their own unique histories, but all of the congregations of a particular denomination experienced the same changes enumerated in the following sketches.

The information in this section is in no way intended to be a complete and exhaustive encyclopedia of all of the Protestant denominations. Only the denominations which were practiced by the residents of Bedford County from the earliest times to the present have been included and discussed here.
