The Beaux Arts style was popular from circa 1885 to circa 1930, with the primary identifying features being architectural symmetry and often oversize monumental mixing of both Greek and Roman elements such as columns and arches, elaborate moldings and statuary.
Public buildings, rather than private dwellings, most often employed the Beaux Arts style, which was a form of New-Classical.
The Beaux Arts style is exemplified by the U. S. Post Office on the southeast corner of Juliana and Penn Streets and the First National Bank (not shown here) on the southwest corner of Juliana Street and Central Way in Bedford Borough.
