Gothic Revival (Victorian)

The Gothic Revival style (sometimes referred to as a form of Victorian) was popular from circa 1840 to circa 1880, with the primary identifying features of a steep-pitch roof, often with steep cross gables, decorative trim boards along a gable roofline (referred to as 'gingerbread'), tall and slender windows often with diamond shaped panes and sometimes positioned in pairs, and one-storey porches supported by flattened Gothic style columns.

The Gothic Revival style is exemplified by the St. James Episcopal Church at the northwest corner of the intersection of Richard and John Streets in Bedford Borough.

The Gothic Revival style is exemplified by North Spring Christian Church located at 37 N. Spring Street in Everett Borough.

As exemplified by the two structure shown here, the Gothic Revival architectural style was often used in churches.
